What Are Intel Integrated Connectivity (CNVi) and Companion RF (CRF) Modules?
Intel Integrated Connectivity (CNVi) integrates key components of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® technology directly into Intel® processors. This solution enhances wireless performance and simplifies the design of wireless-enabled devices.
Components of Intel Integrated Connectivity:
- CNVi: The built-in wireless IP section of Intel processors.
- Companion RF (CRF) Module: An M.2 form factor module (available in 2230 and 1216 soldered down formats) that complements the CNVi.

The following Intel® Wireless Adapters are CRF modules that are compatible with Intel® Integrated Connectivity:
Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX411 / AX1690i
Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX211 / AX1675i
Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX203
Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX201 / AX1650i
Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX101
Intel® Wireless-AC 9560
Intel® Wireless-AC 9462
Intel® Wireless-AC 9461
Key Points:
- These CRF modules are designed to work exclusively with select Intel processors and chipsets.
- They must be used on systems or motherboards specifically engineered to support CNVi to function correctly.
- While you can physically install these CRF modules into a standard M.2 Key E socket, they will only function properly in a system optimized for CNVi.
For more detailed information on compatibility and installation, refer to your system's manual or consult the manufacturer’s support resources.
